275 Films Eligible for 70th Academy Awards
275 feature-length films have met the eligibility requirements for 70th Academy Awards® consideration. This is a bit more than last year's 248 and the highest number since 1973.
How does a film qualify for consideration? It has to be longer than 40 minutes and be in either 35mm or 70mm format. Regardless of its country of origin it must have been exhibited to the public in a Los Angeles County commercial theater between Jan. 1, 1997 and Dec. 31, 1997 and run for seven consecutive days.
Shorts, documentaries, and foreign language films are viewed and nominated by special Academy committees and have different requirements.
February 10th, 1998 is the exciting day when the nominees will be announced. Stay with Digital Hit Entertainment for your continuing coverage.
