The nominations for the 52nd Annual Academy Awards were a mixed lot. Robert Benton’s divorce drama Kramer vs. Kramer led the pack with nine nods alongside Bob Fosse’s semi-autobiographical All That Jazz. Francis Ford Coppola’s Vietnam War epic Apocalypse Now was next in line with eight nominations.

In the Best Supporting Actor category, Kramer vs. Kramer’s Justin Henry, at age eight, became the youngest nominee in a competitive category.
