Awards:Academy Awards®:2000 (72nd)A year to forget
March 17, 2000 - I'm sure when poor old Oscar kicks back and relaxes on March 27th, he's going to want to forget the year 2000. Oh sure there'll be the glittering night. The funny moments. The touching speeches. But forget the lead-up. First the post office loses 4000 ballots. Then the Wall Street Journal tries to scoop the big night by polling voters. But now the little guy's been kidnapped. Stolen from a loading dock of a shipping company near Los Angeles, roughly 40 of the statuettes are gone. New Oscars® have been ordered and the Academy will be holding a news conference later today. What a year! Back to our main Academy Awards® page.
