January 14th The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today the seven films being considered for the Sound Effects Editing Oscar at the 72nd Academy Awards®.

The films are (listed in alphabetical order):

The Sound Effects Editing Award Nominating Committee will meet on February 8th and will be shown ten-minute clips of these films. The members of the committee may nominate up to three of the seven films for Oscar consideration, recommend a single film for a Special Achievement Award, or elect to recommend that no award be given in this category.

The nominations for this and the other 23 categories will be on Tuesday, February 15, at 5:30 a.m. (PST). Digital Hit will have full coverage of the nominations.
