Welcome to Digital Hit's coverage of the 80th Annual Academy Awards®. The nominations for the 80th edition of the Oscars were announced on January 22nd, 2008, while the ceremony took place on February 24th, 2008.

The Academy Awards telecast was hosted by The Daily Show's Jon Stewart, his second time with the emcee gig. Says telecast producer Gil Cates, "Jon was a terrific host for the 78th Awards. He is smart, quick, funny, loves movies and is a great guy. What else could one ask for?"
