Box office has Epic weekend

Epic Movie managed to top the box office this weekend despite all the attention given the recent Academy Award® nominees. The spoof took in $18.6 million in its debut weekend.

Another debut, Smokin’ Aces, managed a second place, $14.6 million showing despite reviews that characterized it as refried Tarantino.

The Ben Stiller comedy Night at the Museum added another $9.5 million, bringing its 6 week total to $216.8 million. Stomp the Yard crossed the $50 million mark in its 3rd week with a $7.6 million weekend, while Jennifer Garner’s Catch and Release debuted in fifth spot with $7.6 as well.
