Tim Allen’s holiday sequel, The Santa Clause 2, debuted at number one this weekend with an estimated haul of $29 million. Though some of the studio kids gathered around the tree were happy, the overall weekend box office was 22% below the same weekend last year.

Naomi Watts and The Ring continued to scare up an audience with an additional $18.5 million this weekend, while the Eddie Murphy/Owen Wilson flick I Spy opened at 3rd with $14 million.

Last week’s number one, Jackass: The Movie, dropped to number four with $13.1 million. Ghost Ship rounded out the top five with $6.6 million.
