Carrey Almighty

Perhaps Jim Carrey and co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Morgan Freeman had a little divine intervention this Memorial Day weekend, as poor weather helped their comedy Bruce Almighty zip to the top of the box office with an estimated $86 million haul over the 4-day weekend.

Last week’s number one, The Matrix Reloaded faced a 50%+ drop in its numbers, taking in roughly $45.6 million. Don’t shed any tears though. It’s now the second fastest film to reach over $200 million, losing out to Spider-Man 11 days to 9.

Eddie Murphy’s Daddy Day Care was at No. 3 with $18 million, while Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman and friends saw their X2: X-Men United at fourth with $13.1 million. The In-Laws rounded out the top five with $9.1 million.
