Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest breaks records

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest has smashed a slew of box office records, with a weekend take of $135.6 million, which was $3.6 million more than Sunday estimates.

It broke Spider-Man’s 2002 three-day weekend of $114.8 million and X-Men: The Last Stand’s four-day weekend take of $122.9 million from the Memorial Day holiday. The flick also broke the single day record of $55.5-million.

WB’s Superman Returns was in second place with $21.8 million, while The Devil Wears Prada wore third place with $15 million.

Finally Click and Cars rounded out the top five with $11.9 million and $10.7 million respectively.
