Good weekend for Jerry

Jerry Bruckheimer had a one-two punch this weekend as two films he produced took the top two spots in the weekend box office. Final figures showed the Will Smith Lawrence vehicle Bad Boys II in the top spot with a $46.5 million weekend. Meanwhile, the producer’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, which stars Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush, sailed into the number two spot, adding another $34 million for a two week haul of $133 million.
The poorly-reviewed The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (which features Sean Connery and Peta Wilson, took third spot with $10.2 million. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines added another $9.3 million for fourth place, while the Rowan Atkinson spy spoof Johnny English rounded out the top five with a North American opening of $9.1 million.
