Allen and Taymor flicks get TIFF galas

The 2007 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival will include galas for the newest films from Woody Allen and Julie Taymor. The 32nd version of the popular festival runs from September 6th to the 15th.

Julie Taymor’s Across the Universe is a movie musical set against the turbulent years of the 1960s. It stars Jim Sturgess, Evan Rachel Wood, Bono and Eddie Izzard.

Woody Allen’s latest, Cassandra’s Dream, is the story of two brothers (Ewan McGregor and Colin Farrell) who are desperate to better their troubled lives. The film, which also stars Tom Wilkinson, features an original score by Phillip Glass.
