Bale out on bail

The benefit of having a late night and then sleeping in is that I can skip all the rampant speculation that surrounded earlier stories about The Dark Knight star and an alleged assault made against his mother and sister on Sunday.

Some stories salivated at the prospect of Batman not being a knight in shining armor. It turns out now that Bale’s police interview may have been over a verbal assault alleged by his mother and sister. According to a statement from Bale’s lawyers, “Christian Bale attended a London police station today on a voluntary basis. Bale, who denies the allegation, cooperated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police.”

Verbal assault is considered a crime in England and the actor’s mother and sister made the complaint to the Hampshire Constabulary. The alleged assault was said to have taken place at London’s Dorchester Hotel on Sunday.

Bale, 34, was interviewed for about four hours. He was not charged and was released on bail while the investigation takes place.
