Monkees’ Davy Jones dead at 66

Davy Jones, best known as the cute singer on the TV series The Monkees, has died of a heart attack at the age of 66.
The British-born Jones joined Mike Nesmith, Peter Tork and Mickey Dolenz in the Beatles-inspired TV series The Monkees in 1965. Though they didn’t originally play any of their instruments, with the help of songwriters like Neil Diamond and Carole King & Gerry Goffin they had chart-topping hits like “I’m a Believer” and “Pleasant Valley Sunday”. The series was cancelled in 1968 and Jones left the band in 1970. Dolenz, Tork and Jones reunited in the Eighties for nostalgia tours.blog comments powered by Disqus
