Good weekend for Jerry

Jerry Bruckheimer had a one-two punch this weekend as two films he produced took the top two spots in the weekend box office. Final figures showed the Will Smith/Martin Lawrence vehicle Bad Boys II in the top spot with a $46.5 million weekend. Meanwhile, the producer’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, which stars Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush, sailed into the number two spot, adding another $34 million for a two week haul of $133 million.

The poorly-reviewed The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (which features Sean Connery and Peta Wilson, took third spot with $10.2 million. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines added another $9.3 million for fourth place, while the Rowan Atkinson spy spoof Johnny English rounded out the top five with a North American opening of $9.1 million.
