The 39th People’s Choice Awards (2013)

Welcome to DigitalHit’s coverage of the 39th People’s Choice Awards. The ceremony, hosted by Kaley Cuoco, took place on January 9th, 2013.

Kaley takes to the stage to welcome everyone to the show. She jokes that more votes were cast for the PCA's then the presidential election.

9:06 PM

The first presenter is Julianne Hough. She's presenting Comedic Actress. And the People's Choice Award goes to Jennifer Aniston, which is no surprise because at the PCA's the winners are told ahead of time and the other nominees don't usually show up.

9:09 PM

Olivia Munn and Johnny Galecki stroll out next to introduce the winner of Favorite Country Artist. And the People's Choice Award goes to Taylor Swift.

9:17 PM

The stars of Supernatural, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, who have won Favorite Sci-Fi show, are presenting the award for Favorite Band. And the People's Choice Award goes to Maroon 5.

9:20 PM

Shemar Moore of Criminal Minds introduces a performance by Alicia Keys.

9:30 PM

Kaley says her mother's favorite star is Ellen DeGeneres, who won Favorite Daytime TV Host. "I want to thank everyone on my team: Jane Lynch, Melissa Etheridge, Wanda Sykes." Ellen's also the presenter for Comedic TV Actress. And the People's Choice Award goes to Lea Michelle. Which just goes to show the people are sometime's wrong.

Ellen then presents Favorite Comedic TV Actor to Chris Colfer. I typed this before it was announced because, again, 99% of the time only the winners show up.

The PCA's are one big ad for P&G and friends, so we get a segment showing a new Walgreen's store. Egads.

Ian Somerhalder and Casey Wilson present Adam Sandler with the Comedic Movie Actor award. Sandler goes through a way too long list of his own favorites.

Rachael Leigh Cook intros a performance by Jason Aldean.

9:57 PM

Monica Potter and Anthony Anderson come out and pretend to do a flash mob. The next category is Favorite Breakout Artist. And the People's Choice Award goes to The Wanted. They sing a little "Afternoon Delight" before leaving the stage.

Arrow's Stephen Amell and Homeland's Morena Baccarin present Favorite Movie Actress. And the People's Choice Award goes to Jennifer Lawrence. She's also won Favorite Face of Heroism. She should get an acting award because she acts surprised that she won, even though the winners are told long before the ceremony.

Carrie-Anne Moss and Jason O'Mara present Favorite Music Video to Katy Perry.

10:11 PM

Chloë Grace Moretz and Matt Bomer present Favorite Dramatic TV Actress. And the People's Choice Award goes to Ellen Pompeo. We also learn that Grey's Anatomy has won Favorite Network TV Drama. They then present Dramatic TV Actor to Nathan Fillion, while Castle wins Favorite TV Crime Drama.

Alison Sweeney announces the first ever Humanitarian Award, courtesy of Walgreens. The award is presented by Regina King to Sandra Bullock.

Les Miserables's Eddie Redmayne is onstage to present Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress. And the People's Choice Award goes to Emma Watson. The Perks of Being a Wallflower also wins Dramatic Movie.

Heidi Klum intros a performance by Christina Aguilera. Josh Duhamel then presents her the People's Voice Award. Are we just making up awards now?

Taylor Swift is now presenting Favorite Movie. And the People's Choice Award goes to The Hunger Games.
