27th Toronto International Film Festival Coverage: Day Three

Today was DigitalHit’s fifth birthday. It was also a busy day for our TIFF coverage team as we ran from opening to opening.

Our day started off with a press conference for Julie Taymor’s Frida, which Salma Hayek stars in and produced. The film, about Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, is a labor of love for Hayek. The beautiful actress also had the zinger of the day. When a reporter asked whether having Frida’s trademark unibrow made her feel more intelligent, Hayek said no, but suggested the reporter might want to try it.

After the press conference, it was back to the red carpets where we saw Miyazaki’s Spirited Away’s Jason Marsden, Bowling for Columbine’s Michael Moore, Jet Lag’s Jean Reno and Juliette Binoche and Laurel Canyon’s Frances McDormand.

There were also a couple of surprise appearances at the Frida premiere, where both Dustin Hoffman and Sharon Stone dropped by.
