Hobbits top last weekend

2001 is now over and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring topped the box office over the last weekend with Frodo and his fellow hobbits rounding up roughly $37.4 million.

Ocean’s Eleven, the star-studded caper film, stole the second place spot with an estimated $17.4 million haul, while the Will Smith vehicle Ali made the third spot with $15.3 million.

The computer animated family flick Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius blasted his way to fourth with $15 million. Vanilla Sky rounded out the top five with a box office of $11.5 million.
