Welcome to our coverage of the 94th Annual Academy Awards.

8:00 pm

Venus and Serena Williams open tonight’s show by introducing a performance of the nominated song “Be Alive” from King Richard performed by Beyonce. The performance was taped in Compton on the tennis courts the sisters started on.

The three hosts — Regina Hall, Any Schumer, and Wanda Sykes — are introduced.

“The Oscars, where movie lovers unite and watch TV,” says Sykes.

“The Golden Globes are in the In Memoriam segment,” says Schumer.

Amy is now hosting her segment of the show.

“The only place that could be better than this is…home.”

“After year’s of ignoring women we finally have a movie about the Williams sisters’ father.”

Amy introduces H.E.R. and Daniel Kaluuya to hand out Supporting Actress. And the Oscar goes to Ariana DeBose for West Side Story.

We see a clip from the nominated Belfast before Regina Hall says she needs to perform some Covid tests on some single men.

She then introduces Jason Mamoa and Josh Brolin, but not before frisking them. The pair then introduce the nominees for Best Sound. And the Oscar goes to Dune’s Mac Ruth, Mark Mangini, Theo Green, Doug Hemphill and Ron Bartlett. This was one of the earlier awards edited into the telecast.

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of White Men Can’t Jump our next presenters are Wesley Snipes , Woody Harrelson and Rosie Perez. They’re presenting Cinematography. And the Oscar goes to Greig Fraser for Dune.

We’re told the nominees for Documentary (Short Subject). And the Oscar goes to The Queen of Basketball and Ben Proudfoot.

We see a clip of CODA before Jacob Elordi and Rachel Zegler announce the nominees for Visual Effects. And the Oscar goes to Dune’s Paul Lambert, Tristan Myles, Brian Connor and Gerd Nefzer.

Tony Hawk, Kelly Slater and Shaun White talk about the 60 years of James Bond before introducing a clip package.

We see a clip for Don’t Look Up.

Stephanie Beatriz introduces a performance of the nominated song “Dos Oruguitas” from Encanto performed by Sebastián Yatra.

Lily James, Halle Bailey and Ione Skye. They’re presenting Best Animated Feature. And the Oscar goes to Encanto
and Jared Bush, Byron Howard, Yvett Merino and Clark Spencer.

Wanda Sykes introduces the house band before talking about the Academy Museum and a comedy bit about her visit there.

Youn Yuh-jung is here to present the Supporting Actor Oscar. And the Oscar goes to Troy Kotsur for CODA.

Tiffany Haddish and Simu Liu are presenting International Feature Film. And the Oscar goes to Japan’s Drive My Car and director Ryusuke Hamaguchi.

Mila Kunis introduces Reba McEntire to perform Diane Warren’s “Somehow You Do” from Four Good Days.

They hold a moment of silence to honour the people of Ukraine.

We hear the nominees for Live Action Short Film. And the Oscar goes to The Long Goodbye Aneil Karia and Riz Ahmed.

We see a clip for Dune.

Lupita Nyong’o and Black Panther costume designer and Oscar winner Ruth E. Carter present Costume Design. And the Oscar goes to Cruella’s Jenny Beavan.

John Leguizamo is here tp present a performance of “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from Encanto. This is one of those controversial decisions. It’s not a nominated song but of course the broadcaster, ABC, is owned by the producer’s of Encanto, Disney. The performance is by cast members Adassa, Stephanie Beatriz, Mauro Castillo, Carolina Gaitan and Diane Guerrero, along with Becky G and Luis Fonsi.

In a desperate attempt to get a younger audience, BTS talks about their fave musicals. Then we see a clip from King Richard. Wanda Sykes then comes out dressed like Richard Williams. She’s Joined by Regina Hall dressed as Tammy Faye and Amy Schumer as Spider-Man.

To honor the 15th anniversary of Juno, Jennifer Garner, Elliot PAge and J.K. Simmons present Original Screenplay. And the Oscar goes to Kenneth Branagh for Belfast.

Shawn Mendes and Tracee Ellis Ross are here to present the Oscar for Adapted Screenplay. And the Oscar goes to Siân Heder for CODA.

We see the Twitter voted nominees for Fan Favorite Movie of the Year: tick, tick…BOOM!, Spider-Man: No Way Home , Minamata, Cinderella, and Army of the Dead.

We hear the nominees for Original Score. And the Oscar goes to Hans Zimmer for Dune. He was not in attendance.

Rami Malek is here to introduce the performance of “No Time To Die” by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell.

We hear the nominees for Film Editing. And the Oscar goes to Dune’s Joe Walker.

Regina and Wanda have consolation prizes including a screener of The Last Duel.

Chris Rock is next. “No masks tonight. Everyone is breathing raw dog.”

After Rock cracks a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith comes up on the stage and slaps him in the face. Lots of sound drops as Smith swears at him to “Keep my wife’s name out of your f@cking mouth!” Based on the sudden vibe in the room, I think this was real.

Rock announces the nominees for Documentary Feature. And the Oscar goes to Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) and Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, Joseph Patel, Robert Fyvolent and David Dinerstein.

Sean “Diddy” Combs is out next to pay tribute to The Godfather on it’s 50th anniversary. Francis Ford Coppola, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro get a standing ovation when they appear on stage.

Tyler Perry pays tribute to Sidney Poitier as the In Memoriam segments starts. Part way through, Bill Murray pays tribute to Ivan Reitman. After another song, Jamie Lee Curtis pays tribute to Betty White.

We hear the nominations for Production Design. And the Oscar goes to Dune’s Patrice Vermette and Zsuzsanna Sipos.

We see a clip from The Power of the Dog.

Zoe Kravitz and Jake Gyllenhaal are presenting Original Song. And the Oscar goes to No Time To Die’s song “No Time To Die” by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell.

Kevin Costner talks about the magic of watching How the West Was Won as a young boy and how directors can change a life. He then present Best Director. And the Oscar goes to The Power of the Dog’s Jane Campion.

To celebrate the 28th anniversary of Pulp Fiction, the next presenters are Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta. They’re presenting Best Actor. And the Oscar goes to Will Smith for King Richard. He talks about how Richard protected his family and how he feels the need to do that too. He apologizes to the Academy for earlier. Powerful moment.

We hear the nominees for Makeup and Hairstyling. And the Oscar goes to The Eyes of Tammy Faye’s Linda Dowds, Stephanie Ingram and Justin Raleigh.

Amy Schumer is here now. “I’ve been getting out of that Spider-Man costume. Did I miss anything?” She pays tribute to the Governors Awards honorees: Samuel L. Jackson, Elaine May, Liv Ulmann and Danny Glover.

Anthony Hopkins is here to present Best Actress. And the Oscar goes to Jessica Chastain for The Eyes of Tammy Faye.

Lady Gaga and Liza Minnelli are here to present the night’s final award. Liza is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Cabaret. And the Oscar goes to CODA and producers Philippe Rousselet, Fabrice Gianfermi and Patrick Wachsberger.
