What's the deal with Baywatch?
Okay class, let's deal with the facts. Baywatch is the planet's most watched TV show with over two billion regular viewers. Hmm, why are they watching it? Is it for the stories full of life-saving techniques and great ocean views? Could it be the family values instilled by each episode's moralistic endings? Or, and this is stretching it, could it be the handsome hunks and gorgeous babes in tight, sexy swimsuits?
Regardless of why you watch it, the fact of the matter is that people watch it in droves. Even Joey and Chandler on Friends regularly tune in.
Alas, there was one accident on the beach that CPR was unable to help. In May of 1998, the show's producers sunk the Baywatch careers of Carmen Electra, Donna D'Errico, Traci Bingham, Marliece Andrada and Angelica Bridges. Sigh...we'll always have our memories.
Speaking of memories, California is now a memory to the Baywatch cast. Looking for a cheaper place to shoot, they've moved to Hawaii and renamed the show Baywatch Hawaii. David Hasselhoff has also announced that he'll be leaving the show.
