Bob Hope was honored as Hollywood’s “Citizen of the Century” on Tuesday. Unable to attend the event because of health reasons, Hope was represented at the event by friends and admirers like Phyllis Diller, Connie Stevens, Kelsey Grammer and Dennis Miller.

Miller said, “He taught me something that I’ve always used as a stand-up comedian. He had an insouciance about him that I would find fascinating, where he would tell a joke and just stand there for a second.”

Bob’s daughter, Linda, said that her father, famous for his wartime USO tours, wishes he could entertain the troops over in Iraq.
