Tom Cruise victim of TV prank

Jun 20, 2005 by Ian Evans

Tom Cruise was the victim of a made-for-TV practical joke when he attended the London premiere of Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds. While being interviewed by a man posing as a reporter, he was squirted by a water pistol disguised as a microphone.

Cruise asked the man why he did it and added, “Do you like thinking less of people, is that it?” When the man tried to walk away Cruise held on to his arm and said, “Don’t run away. That’s incredibly rude. I’m here giving you an interview and you do that…it’s incredibly rude. You’re a jerk.”

The “reporter” and three others filming the incident were arrested and may face assualt charges. They were employees of a new show on Britain’s Channel 4 that targets celebrities for pranks.
