Welcome to Digital Hit's coverage of the 29th Annual People's Choice Awards. Tony Danza's hosting so that only means one thing: we're going to see him tap dancing at some point...

Danza started off the show with a song and dance number playing rapper "Italian Ice". And yes, he tapped during the number.

Okay, so the show's underway. The People's Choice Awards are one of the least suspenseful awards around. If you saw the red carpet, you pretty much know who has one, as all of the winners are notified ahead of time.

Life with Bonnie's Bonnie Hunt was the first presenter of the night, presenting the award for Favorite Television Dramatic Series. And the first award of the night goes to...CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Show star William Petersen accepted the award on behalf of the show. He said he appreciated that award was coming from the fans.

The next two presenters were John Ritter and Katey Sagal, stars of 8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter. They were there to present the award for Favorite Television Comedy Series. That People's Choice Award was presented to Friends, which is no big surprise...because half the cast showed up. See how this works?

Moving right along, Yes, Dear's Anthony Clark and Mike O'Malley were up next to present Favorite Musical Group or Band to...a tie. No, not that thing that goes with your dress shirt, but to two different bands. Creed and the Dixie Chicks. Neither group was there, but again, they already knew, so the Dixie Chicks taped their thanks, joking that they had to go and dangle Michael Jackson over a balcony.

Presidio Med's Blythe Danner and Dana Delany were the next presenters out and their duty was to present the award for Favorite Motion Picture Actor to either Mel Gibson, Denzel Washington or Tom Hanks. The statuette goes to Mel Gibson. He was out of the country, but had his taped thanks prepared. It was his fifth.

Still Standing's Jamie Gertz and Mark Addy were up next. As Addy did his schtick about the Reality Award, Gertz pretended to be shocked by his British accent...since he plays an American on their show. Anyway, the winner for Favorite Reality-Based Program was Survivor: Thailand. They acted surprised, which is such a really stupid thing to do when everyone knows you already know you won. Of course no one ever said they were actors...can we please get reality shows off TV. Please!

Tony Danza was up next to present the award for Favorite Male Musical Performer. Danza joke that the producer's felt that there was no conflict of interest to have him present it. The award went to Eminem...who was not there...but had no tape.

Everwood star Treat Williams was out next, calling Danza the first rapper with tap shoes. His job was to present Favorite Female Television Performer. And the People's Choice Award goes to...Jennifer Anston. Aniston was using a cane to walk and was helped up to the stage by co-star Matthew Perry. She thanked the writers for writing such good characters and referring to the newly aanounced tenth season she said, "Just when you thought we were done..."

Variety columnist Army Archerd, creator of the awards, came out as he does each year to show off and explain what the crystal award looks like.

Yep, we don't need to waste any time on awards show, so why not have Danza spend a couple of minutes playing a horn? Why? Why? Last year they played catch on the show. Next year: macrame.

Everybody Loves Raymond's Peter Boyle and Becker's Nancy Travis were out after the musical interlude to hand out Favorite Male Television Performer. And the winner is...Ray Romano. Ray brought his twin sons Greg and Matt up on stage with him as it was their birthday. As a birthday "present" he let his sons read his acceptance speech. When his son mispronounced CBS head Les Moonves' name, Romano interjected that they had to get that name right. "You like the house we're living in, don't you?"

Jason Alexander was up next to check on the Internet voting for Favorite New Television Comedy Series. Alexander said his cancelled show almost won last year, "but apparently people actually have to watch it." The winner with 69% of the vote was 8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter. Show star John Ritter accepted the award.

Singer Josh Groban was out next to present Favorite Female Musical Performer. The songbird who won was Faith Hill. As is par for the course, Faith thanked the fans and wished she could have added something funny.

George Lopez star...George Lopez...and his co-star Constance Marie. Lopez said there was more drama on daytime TV than watching Anna Nicole Smith try and wear a thong. The winner for Favorite Daytime Dramatic Series was Days of Our Lives. Show star Diedre Hall accepted the award.

Time for another Internet-voted award, Favorite New Television Dramatic Series, which was presented by Good Morning, Miami's Mark Feuerstein and Ashley Williams. The winner was CSI: Miami. The award was accepted by series lead David Caruso.

Okay, so they're telling the winners to "wrap-up" their speeches, but we get more musical instrument schtick from Danza.

Real-life couple Jimmy Smits and Wanda De Jesus were the presenters for Favorite Dramatic Motion Picture. The winner was The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Sean Astin accepted the award from Vancouver.

Army's back again to introduce the prez of the Gallup organization and have explain how the polling is conducted.

Aussie actor Anthony LaPaglia was out next to present the People's Choice Award for Favorite Motion Picture. The winner is...another tie...Spider-Man which was accepted by Tobey Maguire in a taped message and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring which was accepted by Sean Astin from Vancouver.

The Rock was the luck guy chosen to present Favorite Motion Picture Actress. The winner, for her eighth time, was Julia Roberts. Since she was not there, they showed a video montage of her previous wins.

Tim Allen was the final presenter. Sporting a beard, Allen said he looked like a "young Sebastian Cabot." Anyway, the winner of Favorite Comedy Motion Picture was My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Pretty much the entire cast was there. Producer Rita Wilson started off the acceptance speech, thanking director Joel Zwick and hubby/co-producer Tom Hanks.

That's it. The first awards telecast of the year is over. Join us tomorrow for our coverage of the 30th Annual American Music Awards.
