Shuttle design debate

One debate that is firing up: these shuttles are about two decades old and the budget for the program has been level for years. Should new vehicles be designed/made?

Wing problem during launch?

One of the threads going though the coverage is that a piece of debris came off the shuttle and hit its left wing during the mid-January launch. Might have been part of the problem at re-entry.

Debris is being found all over Texas. Officials warning to not touch it due to the dangers of the various fuels and chemicals.

Shuttle Disaster

Another disaster has hit the close-knit family of NASA as the space shuttle Columbia, with a crew of seven, broke up over central Texas on its way to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The shuttle’s altitude at the time, over 200,000 feet, makes it highly unlikely that this was a terrorist act according to the White House.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to the families.
