American Music Awards
The American Music Awards, which are produced by Dick Clark, were started to try and be a "hipper" alternative to the Grammys, with less categories and more orientation to a younger demographic.
Now the two shows try and duke it out for audience attention. Even the artists get involved as the Grammys will often not ask an artist to perform for their ceremony of they've already appeared on the AMA's.
