Actor Paul Douglas hosted the 22nd Annual Academy Awards at the RKO Pantages Theatre on Thursday, March 23, 1950.

The Heiress walked away with four awards, including Best Actress for Olivia de Havilland, while All the King’s Men went home with three awards including Best Picture.

One of the highlights of the evening was when Ginger Rogers present a special award to long time screen partner Fred Astaire honoring his “…for his unique artistry and his contributions to the technique of musical pictures.”
