Final figures still put 8 Mile over $50 million

The final tally for Eminem’s 8 Mile, issued Monday, had the film’s opening box office about $3.3 million lower than Sunday’s studio estimates, though $51.2 million is still nothing to sneeze at. So many kids have tried to sneak in to the R-rated film that some analysts question the numbers of some of the other films as tix may have been purchased to to sneak into the rapper flick.

Tim Allen’s Santa Clause 2: The Mrs. Clause dropped to second place this weekend with $24.7 million while Naomi Watts and The Ring continued their strong showing with a $15.5 million in its fourth week. I Spy’s $8.8 million and Jackass: The Movie’s $7.1 million rounded out the top five.
