The 53rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were to have taken place tomorrow, Sept. 16th, but the terrorist attacks on the United States changed Hollywood’s mood from celebration to sorrow.

The new date for the awards broadcast will be Sunday, October 7th. In a statement released by CBS and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, they said “Traditionally, the Emmys are a tribute to the television industry, however, on this night the industry will also join together with the nation to reaffirm the spirit of the American people.”

Some questions remain whether comedian Ellen DeGeneres will still host.
