Veterans and newcomers get multiple Grammy nods

Veteran rocker Bruce Springsteen and young rocker Avril Lavigne have something in common: They both have multiple Grammy nods.

When the nominations for the 45th Annual Grammy Awards were announced, Springsteen, Lavigne, Eminem, and Norah Jones found themselves with multiple nominations.

Springsteen’s The Rising was nominated for album of the year, and the title track for song of the year. He also received nods for best male rock vocal performance, best rock song and best rock album

Newcomer Norah Jones was nominated for record of the year for her hit “Don’t Know Why”, while her album Come Away With Me was nominated for album of the year. She also received a best new artist nod.

Canadian rocker Avril Lavigne received a best new artist nod as well as song of the year, best female pop vocal performance, best pop vocal album and best female rock vocal performance.

Other performers with five nods each were Ashanti, Sheryl Crow, Nelly and Raphael Saadiq.
