British Film Awards

The British Academy Film Awards were handed out Sunday night and The Pianist won Best Film. The Pianist’s director, Roman Polanski, also went home with a BAFTA.

Top acting nods went to Daniel Day-Lewis for Gangs of New York and Nicole Kidman for The Hours. Supporting actors wins went to Christopher Walken for his role in Catch Me If You Can and Catherine Zeta-Jones for her performance in Chicago.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers went home with visual effects, costumes and the Orange Film of the Year. The last award, sponsored by cellphone company Orange, pays tribute to the most popular film of the year.
