Katharine Hepburn dies at 96

Acting legend Katharine Hepburn, who won a record four Academy Awards (news – web sites), died of old age today at her home. She was 96.

Broadway theatres will pay tribute to the great actress this Tuesday by dimming their lights at 8 p.m.

Hepburn earned 12 Oscar nominations, a record she held until this year when Meryl Streep earned her thirteenth. She still holds the record for most Oscars won: Morning Glory, 1933; Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, 1967; A Lion in Winter, 1968; and On Golden Pond, 1981.
