Bob Denver dead at 70

Bob Denver, the Skipper’s little buddy and bumbling sidekick, has died at the age of 70. The beloved star of Gilligan’s Island passed away Friday of complications from cancer treatment.

His wife, Dreama Denver, said that, “He was my everything and I will love him forever.”

Though Denver was best know for the title role in Gilligan’s Island, which debuted in 1964 and ran for three seasons, he was also known to TV audiences for playing the beatnik Maynard G. Krebs in The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis. That show ran from 1959 to 1963.

Born on January 9th, 1935, Denver cuaght the acting bug while studying law at Loyola University in Los Angeles.
