28th Toronto International Film Festival Coverage: Day Four
Zoinks. What a busy day. Not a good day to get back spasms!
We were all over the map today, covering folks like Denzel Washington, Cate Blanchett, Iggy Pop and Laetitia Casta. After some rest and painkillers, the day felt a bit better.
The Out of Time press conference featured equal eye candy for the male and female reporters with a cast that featured Denzel Washington, Dean Cain, Eva Mendes and Sanaa Lathan. Cain, known best for his good guy role as TV’s Superman, was asked whether it was hard getting to his character’s darker place. Cain explained that like his character he was a former football player, a game that was all about conflict and pitting yourself against the guy opposite you, so though he didn’t have the same anger, who knew how to get to that place.
Director Carl Franklin thought that Florida was the perfect setting for the film. He didn’t want a hardcore thriller and felt that the palm trees and “ice cream colors” of the area gave him the balance he needed.
