Though there’s still a few public screenings tomorrow and an awards ceremony, today is the day that hosts the closing night film. This year, that honour goes to Marjane Satrapi’s Radioactive, which stars Rosamund Pike as two-time Nobel Prize–winning scientist Marie Curie, looking at the groundbreaking discoveries she made with her husband, Pierre (Sam Riley). Based on Lauren Redniss’ graphic novel, Satrapi even takes the story into animated territory, an area she’s familiar with as her animated film Persepolis was nominated for an Academy Award.

And with that, the last gala screening of the 2019 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival is over.
