Wedded Bliss

Despite being called the worst movie of the new year (and possibly several years) by most critics, moviegoers gave Fox a wedding gift of $17.5 million for Just Married.

The previous champ, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, dropped into second place with $14.8 million while the cat and mouse team of Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio and Catch Me If You Can moved into third with $14.6 million. The romantic comedy team of Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock raked in another $6.8 million for Two Weeks Notice, while the limited release of About Schmidt rounded out the top five with $6.4 million.

Chicago, which is still in a very limited release of 362 theaters, danced up about $5.7 million in business and a sixth place showing. If it does well at the Golden Globes this weekend it should see those numbers shoot up.
