Werner Klemperer dead at 80

Werner Klemperer, the German actor who starred as Colonel Klink in the 60’s sitcom Hogan’s Heroes, has died at the age of 80. He had been suffering from cancer.

He won two Emmy awards for his role of the head of a German POW camp during WWII.

He moved to the United States in 1933, with his father, famed conductor Otto Klemperer. Besides Hogan’s Heroes, he also appeared in movies, including Death of a Scoundrel, Flight to Hong Kong, The Goddess, Operation Eichmann, Judgement at Nuremberg, Ship of Fools.
