Despite some mixed reviews, the Jim Carrey Xmas flick Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas pulled in an estimated $55.1 million over the weekend, earning it the number one spot and the number two opening of the year after Mission: Impossible 2.

The number two film this weekend was the Rugrats in Paris: The Movie. Charlie’s Angels came in third spot, while Arnold Schwarzenegger’s The 6th Day hit fourth and Ben Affleck and Gwyneth Paltrow’s Bounce rounded out the top five.
