Rebecca Alie Romijn was born on November 6, 1972 in Berkeley, California. A natural beauty, Romijn didn’t have any trouble landing her first modeling gig after a scout urged her to take a break from school. She left her freshman year at the University of California at Santa Cruz and started modeling. This led to her living in Europe and modeling for some of the world’s top designers.

When Romijn returned to the U.S., she began pursuing other projects, some fashion-related and some not. She landed the hosting gig on MTV’s House of Style in 1998, but it was her guest-starring role as a love interest for Ross Geller (David Schwimmer) on Friends that became the nation’s first introduction to her comedic side. More comedic roles followed with 1998’s Dirty Work with Norm MacDonald and a recurring role on Just Shoot Me! from 1999 to 2000 playing a supermodel that was David Spade’s love interest.

She played Kimberly Hefner in 1999’s Hefner: Unauthorized with Randall Batinkoff before moving onto the first of three X-Men movies in 2000. Starring Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, James Marsden and Patrick Stewart, Romijn’s role of Mystique required her to undergo hours of blue makeup covering up her entire body.

2002 was a busy one for Romijn with releases of the remake Rollerball with Chris Klein, LL Cool J and Jean Reno, Femme Fatale with Antonio Banderas and S1m0ne with Al Pacino. The next year, audiences saw her in blue again with X2. In 2004, Rebecca appeared in The Punisher with John Travolta and Thomas Jane and Godsend with Greg Kinnear. She was then in 2006’s The Alibi with Steve Coogan and Jerry O’Connell and that same year appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand.

Romijn secured the lead in a new television show Pepper Dennis, but the series only lasted 13 episodes. She joined the cast of Ugly Betty in 2007, as the post-sex change sister of Daniel Meade.

In her personal life, Romijn was married to actor John Stamos in 1998. They divorced in 2005 and she married actor Jerry O’Connell in 2007.
