Welcome to DigitalHit.com's coverage of the 59th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. This year's ceremony telecast takes place on September 16th, 2007. The nominations for the awards were announced on July 19th by actors Jon Cryer and Kyra Sedgwick.

We'll have minute-by-minute results and coverage starting at 8pm ET.

8:00 PM ET

The telecast is about to begin. Tonight's show is the first time that the awards are being presented in the round, with the audience surrounding the stage.

8:01 PM ET

The animated characters of Stewie and Brian from Family Guy sing about the swill on TV, taking pot shots at Scrubs, Charlie Sheen and the Sopranos.

8:04 PM ET

Host Ryan Seacrest welcomes the audience and pokes fun at himself for hosting and not being a comedian. He correctly identifies what Eva Longoria's wearing, jokes with William Shatner, and points out the casts of Heroes. He indicates that Hayden Panettiere has just turned 18. "My gift to you: seating you as far as possible away from Jeremy Piven."

8:08 PM ET

Ray Romano is the first presenter tonight. He discusses how hard it is not having a show. "If your wife complains your not home enough, stay home for two years." He's presenting Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. And the Emmy Award goes to Jeremy Piven for Entourage. "What an embarrassment of riches to even play this role."

8:14 PM ET

Ugly Betty's Vanessa Williams and America Ferrera take to the stage next to present Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. And the Emmy Award goes to Terry O'Quinn for Lost. He says "Sometimes when we're rolling around in the jungle in the mud, hitting each other and stabbing each other, I wonder what it would be like to bake up a sheet of cookies on Wisteria Lane and get one of their checks"

8:21 PM ET

Seacrest is back and says "It's a fantastic year to be a woman on TV."

"Weeds. A great show...a fantastic after party. Isn't that right, Paula?"

8:23 PM ET

Tina Fey and Julia Loius-Dreyfus are presenting Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. And the Emmy Award goes to Jaime Pressly for My Name is Earl. She thanks the cast and crew, her manager and lawyer.

8:26 PM ET

Kyle Chandler and Katherine Heigl's task is to present Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Miniseries Or A Movie. And the Emmy Award goes to Thomas Haden Church for Broken Trail.

8:33 PM ET

Ellen Degeneres is presenting a montage of "topical one-liners" from the late night hosts which ends with their tributes to Tom Snyder.

8:37 PM ET

Eva Longoria and the guys from Entourage (Jeremy Piven, Kevin Dillon, Kevin Connolly and Jerry Ferrara) present Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series. And the Emmy Award goes to Katherine Heigl for Grey's Anatomy. She gets a big hug from pal T.R. Knight as she takes to the stage. She points out that her mother didn't think she had a shot in hell, so she has nothing prepared.

8:41 PM ET

Jon Cryer and Jennifer Love Hewitt present the Emmy for Outstanding Writing For A Variety, Music Or Comedy Program. And the Emmy Award goes to the writing team for Late Night With Conan O'Brien.

8:50 PM ET

Seacrest talks about the stage: "The carpet is made of recycled bottles, the stage from existing materials and all the power is being generated by the cast of Kid Nation on treadmills." He then introduces a performance by Tony Bennett and Christina Aguilera.

8:53 PM ET

Alec Baldwin presents the nominees for Outstanding Directing For A Variety, Music Or Comedy Program. And the Emmy Award goes to Rob Marshall for Tony Bennett: An American Classic. Marshall says working with Bennett was a labor of love.

8:55 PM ET

Ali Larter and Kiefer Sutherland step out to present Outstanding Lead Actor In A Miniseries Or A Movie. And the Emmy Award goes to Robert Duvall for Broken Trail. "I never knew an actor in my lifetime who didn't want to do a western."

9:03 PM ET

A third of the way through, Queen Latifah pays tribute to the epic mini-series Roots. Cast members from Roots take to the stage to a thunderous ovation. They then present the Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries. And the Emmy Award goes to Broken Trail. Robert Duvall heads to the mic again and thanks his parents for pushing him into acting.

9:10 PM ET

Hayden Panettiere and Neal Patrick Harris are out next. Harris jokes that everyone knows what it means now that Hayden's 18: "New voter." They announce the winner of Outstanding Guest Actress In A Drama Series, Leslie Caron, and she then presents Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series. And the Emmy Award goes to Alan Taylor for The Sopranos.

9:14 PM ET

Neal and Hayden then present Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series. And the Emmy Award goes to David Chase for The Sopranos. He thanks his fellow writers and the amazing cast of the show.

9:21 PM ET

The Office cast poke fun at Steve Carell's movie work and then he presents Outstanding Variety, Music Or Comedy Series. And the Emmy Award goes to The Daily Show. He thanks his cast and crew for doing such a fine job in a year of change.

9:25 PM ET

Carell's presenting another bit o' hardware: Outstanding Variety, Music Or Comedy Special. And the Emmy Award goes to Tony Bennett: An American Classic.

9:28 PM ET

Mark Harmon and Marcia Cross say they have the pleasure to present Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Miniseries Or A Movie. And the Emmy Award goes to Judy Davis for The Starter Wife. Alas, Judy's not there to accept.

9:29 PM ET

Dick Askin, the TV Academy's Chairman, pays tribute to the charitable work done by the TV industry, for example, the big charity special done by American Idol.

9:36 PM ET

Glenn Close, Kyra Sedgwick and Mary-Louise Parker are presenting Outstanding Made For Television Movie. And the Emmy Award goes to Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee. Producer Dick Wolf takes to the mic first.

9:39 PM ET

Joe Mantegna pays tribute to The Sopranos, introducing some other boys from Jersey, the cast of the musical Jersey Boys. They sing while a montage of scenes from the show plays.

9:43 PM ET

The cast of The Sopranos takes to the stage and take a well-deserved bow.

9:49 PM ET

Sally Field and Patrick Dempsey are paired up to present Outstanding Lead Actress In A Miniseries Or A Movie. And the Emmy Award goes to Helen Mirren for Prime Suspect: The Final Act. "So much to say, so little time, but I'm going to keep talking until that very dramatic music begins."

9:52 PM ET

Lewis Black takes network execs to task. He hates how they promo shows in the middle of shows, how they cramp up and speed up the end credits, and how the news channels have that annoying crawl.

9:55 PM ET

It's time to present and the task falls to Cold Case's Kathryn Morris and Danny Pino. And the Emmy Award goes to Philip Martin for Prime Suspect: The Final Act.

9:57 PM ET

The pair remain to present Outstanding Writing For A Miniseries, Movie Or A Dramatic Special. And the Emmy Award goes to Frank Deasy for Prime Suspect: The Final Act.

10:04 PM ET

Seacrest introduce Heroes cast member Masi Oka. With the help of Myspace's president Tom Anderson, they present an interactive TV award to Al Gore and Current TV.

10:08 PM ET

Joely Fisher and Brad Garrett are next. Brad echoes Robert Duvall's sentiment that everyone should do a western, saying "Watch for us in Bury My Head Between Your Knees. They present Outstanding Individual Performance In A Variety Or Music Program. And the Emmy Award goes to Tony Bennett for Tony Bennett: An American Classic. He thanks his sponsor, Target.

10:11 PM ET

Anthony Anderson and Teri Hatcher. They joke how they've always been up for the same roles. They're presenting the Guest Actor and Actress Awards for Comedy. They introduce the winners, Stanley Tucci and Elaine Stritch, who won for Monk and 30 Rock respectively. Elaine has problems with the teleprompter. "I'm not faking this; I really don't know what I'm doing." The pair are presenting Outstanding Directing For A Comedy Series. And the Emmy Award goes to Richard Shepard for the Ugly Betty pilot.

10:16 PM ET

Teri and Anthony now present Outstanding Writing For A Comedy Series. And the Emmy Award goes to Greg Daniels for the episode "Gay Witch Hunt" from The Office.

10:24 PM ET

Ryan Seacrest walks out in a Tudor costume. "This looked a lot less gay on the rack." He introduces Wayne Brady, who dramtically announces the next presenters like game show winners. Rainn Wilson will go up against Kanye West in a musical competion: The Songs of Kanye West. West "screws up" his lyrics, so Rainn is the winner. Wilson and West now present the next award: Outstanding Reality-competition Program. And the Emmy Award goes to The Amazing Race. It takes them longer to get to the stage than it takes the winners to run the race.

10:35 PM ET

Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart discuss the environment. Stewart suggests ending awards show, but Colbert argues if celebrities stop gathering to congratulate themselves "the Earth wins." They then present Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series. And the Emmy Award goes to Ricky Gervais. Gervais isn't there so "we're going to give it to our friend, Steve Carell."

10:40 PM ET

Felicity Huffman and Hugh Laurie present Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series. And the Emmy Award goes to Sally Field for Brothers & Sisters. It's her third career win. "If mothers ruled the world, there'd be no goddamn war in the first place."

William Shatner and Debra Messing present Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series. And the Emmy Award goes to America Ferrera for Ugly Betty.

Jimmy Smits and Kate Walsh hurry out (we're getting close to 11) to present the next award (Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series) and promote their shows. And the Emmy Award goes to James Spader for Boston Legal. "I feel like I just stole a pile of money from the mob."

Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton are presenting the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series. And the Emmy Award goes to 30 Rock. The cast and crew seem surprised and giddy.

Helen Mirren is presenting the evening's final award, Outstanding Drama Series. And the Emmy Award goes to The Sopranos. David Chase ponders what the country would be like if it was run by gangsters "but maybe it is."
